Generally, CIA candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, but there is an alternative path to eligibility for those candidates who don’t meet this requirement. This includes:
- Two years of post-secondary education and five years of verified experience in internal audit or its equivalent, or
- Seven years of verified experience in internal audit or its equivalent.
- Full-time students in their final year may also enter the CIA program and sit for CIA exam parts before completing their education requirement; however, before they are certified, they must meet all education and experience requirements.
