AI for Supply Chain.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As more profession-specific AI courses appear, it\u2019s easy to assume that the best way to learn AI is to find a course designed specifically for your field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>But is that really where you should start?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before asking <em>\u201cWhich AI course is right for my profession?\u201d<\/em>, there\u2019s a more important question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-do-i-know-how-to-use-ai-effectively-in-the-work-i-already-do\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Do I know how to use AI effectively in the work I already do?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specialised AI learning has its place. But first, professionals need the underlying capability to work with AI effectively \u2014 how to give it the right context, evaluate what it produces, recognise where it can add value and know when human judgement needs to take over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that capability isn\u2019t limited to one profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-your-professional-expertise-comes-first\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your professional expertise comes first<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI is not a shortcut to expertise, nor does it replace professional judgement. Its real value comes when you combine it with the knowledge and experience you already have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you work in finance, you understand financial analysis, reporting and business decisions. If you work in HR, you understand people, talent and workforce challenges. If you work in marketing, you understand customers, communication and growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That expertise matters when you start working with AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During our recent <strong>AI Capability Masterclass<\/strong>, Ian Dodson, Founder &amp; CEO of AI Certified, explained that AI use is only as good as the experience you bring to it. AI capability helps you get more from it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-the-application-changes-the-capability-travels-with-you\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The application changes. The capability travels with you.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A finance professional won\u2019t use AI in exactly the same way as someone working in HR, marketing, consulting or operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The applications will naturally be different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In <strong>finance<\/strong>, AI might support research, analysis, reporting or recurring financial workflows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <strong>HR<\/strong>, it could support research, content development, processes or working with workforce information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <strong>marketing<\/strong>, it might help with customer research, ideation, content development or analysis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <strong>consulting<\/strong>, it could support research, analysis and the development of recommendations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But many of the capabilities behind those applications are the same: providing the right context, prompting effectively, evaluating outputs, identifying opportunities for automation and knowing how to use AI responsibly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI can support work across functions; what changes is the context and expertise you bring to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-using-ai-tools-is-only-the-starting-point\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using AI tools is only the starting point<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many professionals are already experimenting with ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Gemini and other AI tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s a start. But occasionally asking AI to draft an email, summarise a document or answer a question is different from knowing how to use it effectively in your work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next step is moving beyond experimentation: giving AI better context, using it across multiple tasks and developing more structured and repeatable ways of working. As Ian explained during the masterclass, structured learning can help professionals make that move from simply experimenting with AI to embedding it into how they work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that means learning more than one particular tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI Certified takes a platform-agnostic approach. Whether you use ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini or another platform, the focus is on learning principles you can apply across AI tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-so-do-you-ever-need-field-specific-ai-learning\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">So, do you ever need field-specific AI learning?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Absolutely.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As your AI capability develops, you may want to go deeper into particular applications, tools or use cases relevant to your profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there is a strong case for <strong>building the foundation before specialising<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This question actually came up during the masterclass when an attendee asked about progressing directly into more specialised sales and marketing AI certifications. Ian\u2019s recommendation was to start with the foundation and then progress into more role-specific learning, while noting that professionals with the appropriate experience can choose a different starting point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal isn\u2019t to choose between general AI capability and specialised expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It\u2019s about getting the sequence right.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Build the capability to work effectively with AI. Apply it within the profession you already know.
