of investment tools, along with some analysis.
Level I CFA® exam takes place over one day, split between
a three-hour morning session and a three-hour
afternoon session: you must attend both to
You will be asked a total of 240 MCQs covering
all topics, split equally between the morning &
afternoon sessions. Each of these is either a
question, a statement, and/or table with a
choice of three answers: A, B, or C.
To complete the exam on time, you should
try to allow an average of approximately 90
seconds for each question.
Level CFA® II exam further emphasizes analysis along with application of investment tools and concepts.
The Level II CFA® exam takes place over one day
split into a three-hour morning session and
a three-hour afternoon session.
You will be tested on a total of 20 item sets,
split equally between the morning & afternoon
sessions. Each of these 20 item sets contains
six items (MCQs), thus giving you a total of 120
items; each of these items is worth three points,
leading to a possible maximum total of 360
points for the entire Level II exam.
Each item set consists of a vignette (case
statement) and six MCQs. The information
contained in the vignette is essential to
answering the six MCQs, so should be read
first and referred back to as you go through
Level III CFA® exam focuses on synthesizing all of the concepts and analytical methods in a variety of applications for effective portfolio management and wealth planning.
The Level III CFA® exam takes place over one
day consisting of a morning session and
an afternoon session.
The morning session includes between 8 and
12 questions that require a constructed response
(essay), with a maximum total of 180 points. In
the afternoon session you will be asked to
answer 10 item set questions, whose structure
you first encountered in Level II.
There are 2 types of essay questions: the first will
ask you to write your answers on the lined pages,
the second will ask you to write your answers in
a template. Since questions can have anything
from 1 to 8 sub-parts, within any 1 question you
find a mix of these 2 question styles. Always
make sure you read the question thoroughly &
follow directions (on the page heading above it).
