SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP

There are two main different types of HR roles; operational and strategic. In an operational role, you would be responsible for implementing policies, performing day to day HR functions and being a contact for stakeholders. If you are an HR professional working in an operational role, the SHRM-CP course would be the most relevant. The SHRM-SCP is ideal for those who work in strategic roles. These roles include developing policies, overseeing HR operations and analyzing performance.

Eligibility

You will need to check your eligibility before you start the courses. If you are looking to do the SHRM-SCP, you would need either a graduate degree and 3 years’ experience in an HR role, if the degree is in HR. If the degree is in another subject, you will need 4 years’ experience. With a Bachelor's Degree in HR, you would need 4 years’ experience in an HR role and in an unrelated subject, it would be 5 years’ experience. If you have less than a Bachelor's Degree, you would need either 6 or 7 years’ experience in an HR role.

The SHRM-CP accreditation has different requirements. If you have a graduate degree, you would either need to be working in an HR role, if you have an HR degree or 1 years’ experience without an HR degree. With a bachelor’s degree, you would need either 1 or 2 years’ experience and less than a bachelor’s degree would require 3 or 4 years’ experience.

You can start the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP courses at a time to suit you. Find out what course suits you best and get started as soon as you can.
