When is the Right Time to Quit your Job?

At some point in our lives, most of us will ponder and debate whether the time is

right to quit our job and move on to greener pastures. Sometimes this can be a gut-wrenching decision,

especially in uncertain economic times, and often it can be all too easy to remain stuck in a rut merely

out of habit.

If you’re spending your working hours clock-watching and having to force yourself through your day, this is

an obvious sign that the time to move on has surely arrived. If there is nothing keeping

you there – if the money isn’t sufficient for the stress and strain involved and there is no realistic

opportunity for advancement or alternative internal opportunities – then why continue wasting such a

significant portion of your working life when there is a whole world of opportunity out there, just waiting

for you?

Is your company making bad decisions? Do you seem to know more than your boss? This can be incredibly

anxiety-inducing and frustrating. Not only does this state-of-mind tend to make your job more difficult

than it should be, but it almost invariably leads to resentment of your superiors - something which can only

negatively affect the social dynamics of the workplace. If you find yourself in this position, it’s high time

you considered making your escape.

Is your health and mental well-being suffering? While many jobs can be dull and boring, this is often

something you just have to take in your stride. However, when your health begins to suffer, a line has

been crossed that should prompt you to start looking for a fresh start without delay. If you’re losing

sleep, unable to relax during your time off and losing or gaining weight through changes in eating habits,

you need to put your well-being first and find an alternative career path. No job is worth subjecting

yourself to this.

Ultimately, however, this decision to quit your job and seek something else can often be made by

intuition alone. Don’t underestimate that little voice inside and the wisdom inherent in allowing

yourself to be guided by it!

Do you think it's time to quit your job? Be prepared! Earning yourself a professional certification

will give you the added edge you need to find better opportunities.
